DEEP funding electric car charger installations

Funding up to $2,000 is now available to Connecticut businesses and municipalities for the installation of public electric vehicle charging stations.

The program furthers Gov. Malloy's diversified energy strategy and provides consumers with more choices when purchasing a vehicle. Rebates are available through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's EVConnecticut Incentives program.

The demand for more charging stations will grow as EV popularity grows, according to DEEP Commissioner Dan Esty, and the program will be a boon to businesses not only for the funding but for increasing visibility through new customers using their chargers.

The cost of driving an EV in Connecticut is equivalent to driving a vehicle that is able to refuel at $1.70 per gallon.
